NBA Kings Managing Partner VIVEK RANADIVE's software company, Tibco Software, "has gone private" after shareholders "overwhelmingly approved" the $4.3B sale of the company to a private equity firm. Ranadive "will get a payout" of more than $290M, "including the proceeds from the sale of his shares and 'golden parachute compensation'" (SACRAMENTO BEE, 12/5).

EVENT PLANNERS: Barclays Center on Thursday announced the formation of the Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment Advisory Board, a group of nearly 30 sports, entertainment, and media industry execs, plus entertainment personalities. The group, created by Barclays Center CEO BRETT YORMARK and Republic Records Exec VP CHARLIE WALK, will contribute to the programming strategy and direction for Barclays Center, the new Nassau Coliseum and other future venues (Barclays Center).

ALMA MATER MONEY: Late Cargill Exec VP DAVID LARSON left $15M to the Univ. of Minnesota football program "with the money set to go toward the building of a football practice facility." Larson had been a UM Regent since '05 (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 12/5)....Former Univ. of Miami RB KEN HUNT donated $1.5M "to fund the Ken Hunt Running Back endowed football scholarship at the university." The school said that the donation "is the single largest total gift from a former athlete in the program's history." The donation "will be used to fund a full scholarship in perpetuity to a Hurricanes running back" (SUN-SENTINEL.com, 12/4)....Pittsburgh-based Farrell & Co. President & CEO MICHAEL FARRELL donated $1M "as part of The Farrell Family Charitable Foundation to the Penn State Football Excellence Fund." Farrell's son, MIKE, was a senior OT on the '12 Penn State football team. The funds "will go toward equipment, facility upgrades, travel and other costs" (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 12/5).

REMEMBERING MADIBA: Raptors GM MASAI UJIRI "has put together an impressive celebration of the life" of late South African President NELSON MANDELA. Air Canada Centre on Friday "will host 'The Giant of Africa,' a celebration of Mandela which falls on the anniversary" of his death.
