Xcel Energy Center First Arena To Be Certified By Three Sustainability Standards

The Wild today will announce that the Xcel Energy Center and St. Paul RiverCentre complex have been certified to three int'l sustainability standards -- the first in the world to receive all these specific designations. Xcel Energy Center is now the first and only NHL arena to be certified by the Green Globes and APEX/ASTM, both of which are independent assessments of a building’s environmental performance and level of sustainability. The arena and the RiverCentre are also LEED certified. Xcel Energy Center has had significant reductions in energy, water usage and waste since '09, when the Wild’s facility management company, which operates the arena and the RiverCentre, put into place a long-term sustainability plan.
