In Sacramento, Bizjak & Lillis report local real-estate developer Vanir Development Co. has "submitted plans" to the city to build a 26-story HQ and office tower across the street from the NBA Kings' planned downtown arena. The move comes three weeks after the club "submitted plans to the city for a 16-story hotel and condo tower," which is "part of the Kings’ plan to eventually add more than 1 million square feet of office space, housing, shops and restaurants" to the area surrounding the arena. Vanir Chair Dorene Dominguez "is a minority owner" of the Kings (SACRAMENTO BEE, 12/4).

More than 178,000 square feet of shopping and
restaurant space will be available near the HQ
STAR POWER: In Dallas, Valerie Wigglesworth reported city leaders "got a better look Tuesday at designs for the retail and entertainment district" near the Cowboys’ new HQ in Frisco, Texas. More than 178,000 square feet of shopping and restaurant space will be "wrapped around two five-story parking garages, on either side of a road that leads to a multiuse event center." Dallas-based O'Brien Architects Senior Design Manager Sean O'Brien said that the development will "emphasize natural, modern materials including limestone, with accents of wood and metal." Formal plans for the commercial block are "expected to be submitted to the city in coming weeks" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 12/3).

SCENES FROM THE SUBURBS: In Georgia, Ricky Leroux reports more than $100M in contracts for various parts of construction on the Braves' new SunTrust Park "have been given to Cobb County vendors, subcontractors and suppliers." American Builders 2017 Operations Dir Mark Granger said that most of the work thus far has "involved getting the site ready for construction, including grading and utility infrastructure, and the beginnings of a foundation for the stadium." He added that the next package of work will be "open for bidding toward the end of December" (MARIETTA DAILY JOURNAL, 12/4).
