NBC Sees Smallest Notre Dame Football Viewership Since '11, Down 3% From '13

NBC averaged 3.226 million viewers for its seven Notre Dame football telecasts this season, marking the net’s lowest figure since ’11. This season was down 3% from 3.34 million viewers in ‘13 and down 26% from 4.381 million viewers during the team’s undefeated regular season in ’12. NBC's best figure was Michigan-Notre Dame in primetime on Sept. 6 with 4.626 million viewers. That same primetime matchup drew the net 6.384 million viewers in ’12, while the '10 game in the 3:30pm ET window drew 6.97 million viewers. While average viewership was down for Notre Dame football on NBC this season, the net did see an 8% rise among adults 18-49.

OUTSIDE OF NBC: Each Notre Dame game aired on broadcast TV this season, with the program having three away games on ABC, one on CBS and one on Fox. ABC’s Notre Dame-Florida State game on Oct. 18 ranks right now as the second-best CFB game of the ’14 season with 13.251 million viewers, behind only the 13.529 million viewers for ESPN’s Auburn-Alabama game last Saturday. Last season, Notre Dame’s away games included one telecast on ESPN, two on ABC, one on Fox and one on CBS Sports Network.
