NBCSPORTS.com's Nick Zaccardi reported U.S. skier Bode Miller "spent four hours having makeup applied to turn him into 'Grandpa Bode' for an Audi commercial that aired during NBC and NBCSN’s coverage of the Aspen Winternational over the weekend." The ad "shows a Miller we’ve never seen before -- with gray hair and a beard and looking out from a book to a curious grandson." Fellow U.S. skiers Julia Mancuso and Jared Goldberg "made cameos" in the spot (NBCSPORTS.com, 12/1).

WHO YOU CALLING UGLY? In N.Y., Scott Cacciola notes the NBA "recently released a collection of holiday-themed sweaters." Designs "were created for 30 teams, and 10 player-specific sweaters are available." NBA VP/Licensing Lisa Piken Koper said, "The idea is that they’re so bad, they’re amazing." Forever Collectibles CEO Michael Lewis, whose company manufactures the sweaters, said, "I thought the leagues would laugh at me if I brought this to them. But my people were insistent." The NBA said that sales at about $85 each "had been brisk" (N.Y. TIMES, 12/2).

WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LULELEMONS: In Portland, Allan Brettman noted Nike "opened a women's-only store over the weekend in Shanghai, China, the second women's-only store the company has opened in about two weeks" after opening a location in Newport Beach, Calif. While this is "not Nike's first foray into stores directed only at women, it is the most recent attempt, reflecting the company's efforts to tap into a growth trend in women's sportswear that likely can be credited" to Lululemon. Nike expects its women's footwear and apparel sales "to grow" 40% over the next two years, from $5B to $7B (OREGONLIVE.com, 12/1).

CELEBRATE WITH SOME BUDS: NASCAR driver Kevin Harvick said his celebration after winning the '14 Sprint Cup title "was pretty good." He said, "We’re fortunate to have a sponsor like Budweiser, who has a great beverage to start celebrations with and to end celebrations with.” ABC's Jimmy Kimmel said, “If M&Ms is your sponsor it’s not that much fun.” Harvick: "Budweiser and Jimmy Johns make a great partner, and we went through 80 cases of beer after the race” ("Jimmy Kimmel Live," ABC, 12/1).
