CAA Sports Terminates Employees Who Worked With NFL Agent Ben Dogra

CAA Sports has terminated several employees who worked closely with former CAA Football co-head and NFL player agent Ben Dogra in the St. Louis office, Dogra’s attorney, Rusty Hardin, confirmed. The names of the employees could not be determined, but Hardin said they included anywhere from four or five employees who helped Dogra service his client base of about 50 NFL players. It was not clear why the employees were let go or if there were any employees left in the St. Louis office where Dogra worked for eight years. A CAA Sports spokesperson declined comment. Dogra was fired from CAA Sports on Nov. 13. “They still have not informed him of the supposed cause,” Hardin said. “There is no cause.” Meanwhile, top execs of other agencies have expressed interest in Dogra, Hardin said. Multiple sources said that other agencies have reached out to Dogra, whose clients include Vikings RB Adrian Peterson, Redskins QB Robert Griffin III, Buccaneers DT Gerald McCoy, 49ers LB Patrick Willis and Bills DE Mario Williams, with interest in potentially hiring him. “He’s in great spirits and has been contacted by different groups that want him to go with them,” Hardin said. In the past when agents with a large client base of star players have left agencies, other agents have tried to sign the clients. Multiple sources said and Hardin confirmed that such is the case here. As of Thursday, none of Dogra’s clients were known to have terminated him as their agent. “Right now he is concentrating on making sure all clients know that he is still going to be there and taking care of them,” Hardin said. “He hasn’t decided where he is going to land or whether he is going to start his own firm.”
