Facility Notes

76ers Chief Revenue Officer Chris Heck yesterday said that the team for its new Camden, N.J., HQ is "looking to create an entire campus for use by the team, its front office and community members." Heck, addressing the Southern New Jersey Chamber of Commerce, said the campus will have "multiple buildings each with multiple floors, several basketball courts, state-of-the-art offices, training facilities and a cafeteria." In Philadelphia, John George noted the 76ers "plan to break ground on the project this winter, and open the campus" during the summer of '16. Heck said that the team "hopes to sign a deal with a naming rights partner ... within the next six months" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 11/10).

TURF WARS: In Ft. Worth, Charean Williams notes the Cowboys found the field conditions for their game against the Jaguars at Wembley Stadium "to be just what they had been told: Slick." Cowboys LB Bruce Carter said, "The field was trash. It was just terrible from the beginning to end." Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray added, "It wasn’t the greatest turf, but I love playing on grass. You’ve just got to fight through it" (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 11/11).

SAFE WORKING ENVIRONMENT? ESPN's Chris Mortensen noted Eagles players called the field at NRG Stadium in Houston "dangerous" after LB DeMeco Ryans tore his Achilles tendon there last week. Mortenson said, "In the past week, both the NFL field operations people and the union field surveyors have taken a look at NRG Stadium ... to inspect the grass because of numerous complaints, and Soldier Field ... also is coming under inspection as they go forward" ("Monday Night Countdown," ESPN, 11/10).

PLACE YOUR BETS: In Las Vegas, James Dehaven noted city officials last week announced a "three-month bidding window for those interested in redeveloping" the 31-year-old Cashman Field. The city, which "owns the land" under the venue occupied by the Triple-A PCL Las Vegas 51s, is "looking for contractors and investors willing to either rebuild the stadium and leave the baseball team intact, or else raze the place and come up with something new." Deputy City Manager Scott Adams said that the decision to put the property up for bid "will help get the city 'off the hook'" if it decides to help subsidize a new stadium plan just outside the county limits in Summerlin. The bidding window closes Feb. 2 (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 11/10).
