Phoenix Super Bowl Organizers Unveil Giant Landmark For Downtown "Super Bowl Central"

A 20-foot-tall football that "will be a landmark for Super Bowl XLIX" was unveiled yesterday in downtown Phoenix, according to Peter Corbett of the ARIZONA REPUBLIC. The structure is situated at "a focal point" of Super Bowl Central, a "football-themed downtown destination with merchants and restaurants, local food trucks, beer and wine gardens, a concert stage, network broadcast stages and a nightly fireworks show." The 12-block area "will be a hub of fan activities" from Jan. 28 to Feb. 1. Super Bowl Central "also will include the NFL Experience." Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton "predicted that 1 million people will visit Super Bowl Central during Super Bowl week -- 2 million if the 8-1 Cardinals are playing in the game" (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 11/11). Meanwhile in Phoenix, Ryan Van Velzer offers "An Inside Look At How Arizona Won The Right To Host Super Bowl XLIX" (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 11/11).
