A TAMPA BAY TIMES editorial stated it is time for the Rays and St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman to "change the narrative about the future of major-league baseball" in the city. The Rays "have had a rough offseason so far." The smartest way to "stem the negative talk is for the Rays and the city to move forward now with a fair agreement to let the franchise start looking" for a new ballpark site in both Pinellas and Hillsborough counties (TAMPA BAY TIMES, 11/8).

PACKERS' PLACE: In Green Bay, Richard Ryman reported the demolition of buildings along Lombardi Avenue "should not appreciably affect" Packers game-day parking.  Packers Dir of Public Affairs Aaron Popkey: "Essentially, it will be the same as it's been. When everything is done, we'll have a gain in the number of parking spaces. Until then, the number of parking spots will remain roughly the same." Popkey said that the Packers "want to raze the buildings before winter to save on maintenance, fire protection and security." The team "plans to develop the land west of Lambeau Field to provide non-football sources of income, similar in concept" to Patriot Place (GREEN BAY PRESS-GAZETTE, 11/9).

Property at Buzzard Point could become more
valuable should DC United's stadium be built there
CUTTING THROUGH THE TAPE: A WASHINGTON POST editorial states outgoing DC Mayor Vincent Gray's administration "must be applauded for championing" the plan to build a DC United stadium on Buzzard Point, but it "is hard to buy the argument that any modification to a negotiated deal will doom it, particularly since the developer at the center of the transaction owns other property at Buzzard Point that would become more valuable if a stadium were built." DC "can’t afford to dawdle," as funds "need to be allocated this year." DC United, playing in RFK Stadium, which "is ill-suited to its needs, won’t wait forever." The team "is willing to pay for its own stadium, which should make it attractive to other jurisdictions" (WASHINGTON POST, 11/10).
