MLB Rangers Ink Multiyear Deal With CBS Sports Radio Dallas, Leaving Local ESPN

The MLB Rangers and CBS Radio yesterday announced that they "have entered a multiyear agreement" for CBS Sports Radio 105.3 Dallas "to become the club's exclusive English-radio play-by-play home beginning next season," according to Cash Kruth of MLB.com. The deal "covers all the Rangers' regular-season and postseason games, as well as select Spring Training contests." It also includes "live pregame and postgame shows and Rangers-themed daily programming, featuring interviews with players, coaches and front-office personnel." The Rangers "will continue to oversee production and other broadcast elements." Radio play-by-play announcer Eric Nadel "will begin his 37th season of broadcasting Rangers baseball this spring," while color commentator Matt Hicks "also will return for his third full year" (MLB.com, 11/4). In Dallas, Candace Carlisle noted the partnership includes all six of CBS Radio's Dallas-Forth Worth stations, and the group "plans to feature the Rangers across their entire portfolio of assets." Rangers games since '10 had been broadcast on ESPN Radio 103.3 Dallas, and the team "previously had a relationship" with CBS Sports Radio Dallas from '95-'10. Terms of the new deal were undisclosed (BIZJOURNALS.com, 11/4). Also in Dallas, Barry Horn wrote CBS Sports Radio Dallas is now "the flagship station of the Rangers and Cowboys" (DALLASNEWS.com, 11/4).
