Adidas Unveils Mississippi State's Egg Bowl Uniforms; Oklahoma Could Wear Alternates

adidas "immersed itself into the tradition" of the Egg Bowl yesterday as it unveiled Mississippi State's uniforms for the Nov. 29 game against Ole Miss, according to Michael Bonner of the Jackson CLARION-LEDGER. MSU's special uniforms are white and the numbers are gold with a pattern of the state of Mississippi "within the digits." The numerals are "outlined in maroon." The pants are the "same as the traditional away uniforms." The helmet features an "M-State" logo outlined in gold. The facemask is "gold chrome, similar to the helmet worn during last year's Egg Bowl" (CLARIONLEDGER.com, 11/4).

SOONER OR LATER: Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops last night said the team "probably" would wear alternate uniforms Saturday against Baylor. In Oklahoma City, Aber & Kersey noted production issues "kept OU from wearing its home alternates Sept. 13 against Tennessee, but a week later, the Sooners debuted their new road alternates at West Virginia in a 45-33 win." The last time OU "wore alternate uniforms at home was Aug. 29, 2003, against North Texas when the Sooners wore throwback uniforms modeled after the look worn by Bud Wilkinson’s teams of the 1950s" (NEWSOK.com, 11/4).

DEVILS MAY CARE: In Phoenix, Doug Haller noted if it were up to Arizona State football coach Todd Graham, the team would "wear the traditional colors (gold helmet, maroon jersey, gold pants) every week." But at the "same time, Graham understands the excitement" surrounding ASU's "Desert Fuel" uniforms, which the team will wear Saturday against Notre Dame. Graham said the players were "pretty excited" when they first saw the uniforms (AZCENTRAL.com, 11/4).
