NBA Season Preview

Showing Some Serious Distance: Jazz Feature Hayward On Unique Billboards

The Jazz have "bought space on two freeway billboards to cleverly advertise for the upcoming NBA season," according to Jody Genessy of the DESERET NEWS. The first billboard "shows a larger-than-life" image of F Gordon Hayward "following through on a shot taken in the partly cloudy blue sky." A couple of hundred yards down the road, the second billboard "shows a backboard in the sky and an orange basketball dropping from the bottom of the net." The Jazz' J-note logo is the "only other thing visible" in the ads. The billboards "were a surprise to Hayward, who hadn’t seen them when recently asked." They were a "collaboration between" the team and Utah-based Barnes Design (DESERET NEWS, 10/27). In Salt Lake City, Aaron Falk reported there is "no doubt anymore" that Hayward and F Derrick Favors know the Jazz "is their team right now." The team committed more than $100M to the two in the offseason, and Hayward said, "The trust that they showed in me was huge and the step they made to say that and sign me back here was huge for me. It makes you feel more like a leader here" (SALT LAKE TRIBUNE, 10/26).
