Goody's Extends Earnhardt Jr. Deal, Including Single-Race Xfinity Series Primary Sponsorship

Goody's yesterday announced an expanded partnership with NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr., who for the first time in '15 will drive a Goody's-sponsored car in the Xfinity Series. Earnhardt will continue to drive the Goody's car once per year through '17. Goody's and Earnhardt also premiered a new video and launched the #Fastest88 Trivia Contest, giving fans 88 days from this past Sunday to enter for a chance to win one of two grand prizes or one of 11 additional prizes. Earnhardt has been a spokesperson since '13 (Goody's). NBCSPORTS.com's Chris Estrada reported Goody's will sponsor Earnhardt's JR Motorsports car "at Texas Motor Speedway" for an Xfinity Series race in '15 (NBCSPORTS.com, 10/26).

THE MERRY PRANKSTER: USATODAY.com's Nick Schwartz noted a Goody's promotional video shows Earnhardt having "a bit of fun with his new-look ride by tricking innocent bystanders." Earnhardt "watched from a secret location as people strolled by his conspicuously parked Chevrolet." A microphone was "set up so that the car could talk," and he "made friends with an adorable little boy and scared some unsuspecting ladies" (USATODAY.com, 10/27).
