LeBron James' New Disney XD Children's Show "Becoming" Debuts Sunday

Disney XD on Sunday will debut "Becoming," a 30-minute show "profiling today's top athletes before they became who they are," according to Jeff Zillgitt of USA TODAY. The pilot episode, which will feature Cavaliers F LeBron James, premieres at 5:30pm and 8:00pm ET and "will be shown again on ESPN" on Nov. 7 at 7:00pm. James, who serves as an Exec Producer of the show, said, "There's no sports programs where parents and kids can sit down and watch it together. This made a lot of sense -- me being able to come together with Disney and put together a program where parents and kids sit down together and watch episodes about people they look up to." Zilgitt notes James "wants the series to be educational and inspirational." Zillgitt notes in addition to James, other Exec Producers of the show include Maverick Carter, James' agent, and ESPN Films' John Dahl, Libby Geist and Connor Schell, who are "responsible for ESPN's award-winning '30 for 30' series." James would like "'Becoming' to turn into a series of mini-documentaries featuring other athletes." He "has has his eye on" Heat G Dwyane Wade, Knicks F Carmelo Anthony, Clippers G Chris Paul, former MLBer Derek Jeter, Broncos QB Peyton Manning and tennis player Serena Williams (USA TODAY, 10/24). James and Carter are also Exec Producers on Starz' "Survivor's Remorse," which debuted last month (THE DAILY).
