Amgen Tour Of California Announces Host Cities For Race's 10th Anniversary

The Amgen Tour of California yesterday “announced its host cities” for the ’15 cycling event, with its 10th anniversary featuring a “roughly north-to-south route” that will cover almost 700 miles, according to Zach Helfand of the L.A. TIMES. The eight-stage race “will start on May 10 in Sacramento, and the final stage, on May 17, will run from L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles to a finish in Pasadena.” From Sacramento, the race “will travel through wine country, into an urban stage in San Jose, the only city to host a stage in all 10 editions, then up the coast and into the mountains before the finish” in L.A. The three-stage women’s race “will start May 8 in South Lake Tahoe and finish in Sacramento on May 10” (LATIMES.com, 10/20). Race organizers noted that the ’15 race “will mark the seventh time that Sacramento has hosted a stage and the third time that the event has kicked off in the capital” (SACRAMENTO BEE, 10/21).
