Longtime PGA Tour Exec Tom Wade Gets More Duties As Chief Commercial Officer

Longtime PGA Tour exec TOM WADE has been promoted to Chief Commercial Officer, and he has seen his responsibilities grow to include "television, digital, communications and licensing," according to Michael Smith of SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. Wade joined the Tour in '93 and had served as CMO until last year, when he was promoted to Global Commercial Officer. Wade last year "spent most of his time working on a project for Commissioner TIM FINCHEM to identify the tour's past revenue growth and to create a long-term strategic plan for future growth." JAY MONAHAN took over last year as CMO. Wade has "such deep connections with the tour's title sponsors and official marketing partners that he'll stay involved 'as needed'" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 10/20 issue).

CHANGE AT THE TOP: The PGA Tour on Friday announced that Champions Tour President MIKE STEVENS tendered his resignation, with his final day to be Jan. 1. PGA Tour Championship Management Senior VP GREG MCLAUGHLIN will transition into the role. Prior to joining the Tour in '97, Stevens was with the RBC Heritage in Hilton Head for 18 years, including a stint as Tournament Dir. McLaughlin joined the Tour in June after 14 years as Tiger Woods Foundation President & CEO, where he oversaw the Quicken Loans National, Deutsche Bank Championship and Hero World Challenge (PGA Tour).

JOINING THE BOARD: Golf lifestyle outlet Back9Network has added former Deutsche Bank CEO and current Florida East Coast Industries Vice Chair SETH WAUGH, former Anheuser-Busch VP/Global Media and current Kirmser Ponturo Group LLC partner TONY PONTURO, and former E! Entertainment Television President FRAN SHEA to its newly created advisory board. The trio will help the startup network develop strategic opportunities and aid with its business operations.
