Bengals Renovating Player Facilities At Paul Brown Stadium After '14 Season

Officials from the Bengals and Cincinnati-based JDL Warm Construction on Friday announced a multimillion dollar plan to "upgrade most of the players' space" at Paul Brown Stadium, according to Bowdeya Tweh of the CINCINNATI ENQUIRER. Bengals Dir of Business Development Bob Bedinghaus said that "some demolition work has already started" at the stadium, and construction activity is "being planned to reduce the impact on football operations." The club is "fully funding the construction project, but Bedinghaus declined to disclose the cost." Projects include "rebuilding and expanding the team's weight room, aerobics room, player lounge, dining facility and television studio." The gym will also be "transformed into a multi-use area that will support indoor conditioning, rehab work and other athletic training." Bedinghaus said that the weight room will be 50% "larger than it is now, which is a necessity" based on how NFL clubs "operate strength and conditioning programs." Bedinghaus: "The NFL is a different animal than it was in 1998 when the stadium was first being designed." Tweh noted the renovations would be JDL's "first project" at the stadium. JDL Chair & CEO Jacob Warm said that the company is "excited to work on this 'unique and high profile project'" (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 10/18). In Cincinnati, Lisa Benson noted the majority of the work "will start after the team completes" the '14 season. Warm said, "As long-time fans it is not often that you get to be involved with a project with your hometown team, so this is not just another job to us. We are looking forward to putting together the building blocks that will help coach [Marvin] Lewis and the team to better prepare for their games" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 10/17).
