College Facility Notes: Indiana To Enclose Stadium's South End Zone

Indiana football coach Kevin Wilson on Wednesday confirmed that the school "plans to enclose the south end zone" of Memorial Stadium, the "third major facilities project the program will embark upon in the near future." He added that the new facility in the south end zone "will include a cafeteria and allow Indiana to expand its football locker room" (INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 10/9).

Construction of the Univ. of Houston basketball arena is
expected to be completed by next August
COUGAR TOWN: The ATASCOCITA OBSERVER noted the Univ. of Houston on Tuesday "unveiled renderings" of the school's new $25M basketball development facility, which will be designed by DLR Group and Page and constructed by Austin Commercial. Construction on the facility "will begin this week and is expected to be completed" by August '15 (YOURHOUSTONNEWS.com, 10/8).

I'M HERE FOR THE SPARTY: A LANSING STATE JOURNAL editorial states the good news for Michigan State is AD Mark Hollis recognizes that the football program "has some room to improve how student football patrons are treated." The current system of open seating "means that getting better seats forces people to enter the stadium well before game time." With cold and rainy conditions last weekend, "one could hardly blame those who couldn’t manage a five or six hour tour-of-duty in the student seats" (LANSING STATE JOURNAL, 10/10).
