NHL Season Preview

Leafs Ticket Prices More Than Twice League Average On Secondary Market

In Toronto, Morgan Campbell cites TiqIQ data as showing that the median price for Maple Leafs tickets this season on the secondary market "is $373.50, more than twice the league average of $162.89." While the median price for NHL tickets overall "has risen" 1.29% since the start of last season, Leafs tickets are up 3.87%. The reigning Stanley Cup champion Kings "fetch an average of $132.95 on the resale market" (TORONTO STAR, 10/8).

GOING GORTON'S AGAIN? In N.Y., Stephen Lorenzo reports the Islanders "plan to unveil a modernized version of their infamous 'fisherman' logo uniforms" they wore in the '95-96 and '96-97 seasons. They will wear the jerseys "for warmups during a game at some point this winter and then auction off the gear for charity" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 10/8).

SHOW SOME GLASS: In Boston, Donna Goodison notes the Bruins' new practice facility at New Balance’s Boston Landing project "complements the high-glass design" of the company's adjacent HQ. Renderings show that the rink’s glass facade "will allow travelers along the Massachusetts Turnpike, which it fronts, to see into the Brighton practice facility for peeks of its stands and ceiling banners." It is "set for completion" in '16 (BOSTON HERALD, 10/8).
