Giants' NLDS-Clinching Win Over Nationals The Highest-Rated Event Ever On FS1

The Giants’ NLDS-clinching Game 4 win over the Nationals last night earned a 3.1 overnight rating for FS1, the highest-rated event ever on the net. The game -- which began around 9:00pm ET -- peaked at a 3.5 overnight between 12:15-12:30am. The 16.5 rating FS1 drew in S.F. was also the highest ever for that market. Meanwhile, FS1 garnered a 2.4 overnight for the Cardinals’ series-clinching win over the Dodgers in yesterday’s early game. The game began around 5:00pm and peaked at a 3.7 rating between 8:00-8:15 (Josh Carpenter, Staff Writer).

BACK IN TIME: For Monday’s Cardinals-Dodgers Game 3 NLDS telecast, FS1 finished with 2.9 million viewers, making it the most-watched Monday show in network history. It also projects to be FS1’s most-watched Monday primetime event. Meanwhile, MLB Network’s Giants-Nationals Game 3 telecast on Monday finished as the most-viewed program in the net's history with 1.8 million viewers (Carpenter).

THEY MIGHT WATCH THE GIANTS: In S.F., Al Saracevic writes Monday's Nationals-Giants NLDS Game 3 being shown on MLB Network "didn't sit well with Giants fans, some of whom had no idea they wouldn't be able to watch the game." The S.F. Chronicle sports desk "fielded more than 150 calls Monday from fans trying to find" the game on TV, so the paper "asked MLB to explain the decision" to air the game on its own network. The league in a statement said, "The Network is distributed in approximately 70 million homes, and it is widely available across the country in close to 100 million homes" (S.F. CHRONICLE, 10/8).
