ESPN Sees Slight Ratings Increase For Seahawks' Win Over Redskins On "MNF"

ESPN earned a 9.0 overnight rating from 8:15-11:45pm ET last night for the Seahawks’ 27-17 “MNF” win over the Redskins, up 5% from an 8.6 figure for the comparable Jets-Falcons game last year. Last night’s game peaked from 9:15-9:30 with a 10.2 rating. In Seattle, the game scored a 20.7 rating on ESPN and 24.5 number on KONG-Ind. for a combined 45.2 local rating. In DC, the game averaged a 14.0 overnight on ESPN and a 9.4 on WDCA-Ind. for a combined 23.4 local figure (Josh Carpenter, Staff Writer).

OF WOLF AND MAN
: Seahawks QB Russell Wilson prior to last night's game discussed his role as Senior Editor for Derek Jeter's new Players' Tribune website, noting Jeter "really wanted me to be" a part of the site. Wilson: "He told me about the website and the whole idea, thought process behind it." Wilson said it was a "great experience" penning the first article for the new site, when he went "in-depth" about his childhood. Wilson: "I wanted to kind of express more so my growth" ("Monday Night Countdown," ESPN, 10/6).  

CAROLINA RISING: In Charlotte, Erik Spanberg noted 396,000 people in the market watched Sunday’s Bears-Panthers game in the 1:00pm ET window on WCCB-Fox, up 18% from 337,000 a week earlier for Panthers-Ravens. Through five games, the Panthers are averaging 430,000 viewers. The team last season "didn't eclipse 400,000 viewers for a game until week five" against the Vikings (BIZJOURNALS.com, 10/6).
