In Wisconsin, Shane Nyman noted former NFLer Brett Favre has been "sporting a gray-and-white beard for some time," but in a new ad for the MicroTouch hair remover, he "steps off his tractor and grooms himself back into form" (POSTCRESCENT.com, 9/30). In DC, Des Bieler noted Favre "doesn’t mention whether the folks at MicroTouch helped encourage him to make said decision, but the point is that he used their products and now his head is free from all sorts of unsightly hair, not just on his chin, but also his nose, ears and eyebrows" (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 9/30).

SPEC-TACULAR
: In Oklahoma City, Darnell Mayberry notes Thunder F Kevin Durant and Nike have "collaborated on a line of glasses frames" which will be released during the '14-15 season. The adult collection is "out in the coming weeks, while the Young Athlete version will be available in January." The adult line "will retail for approximately $245." The Youth Athlete style "will retail for approximately $185." Both styles feature Durant’s "signature 'KD' logo" (OKLAHOMAN, 10/1).

FROZEN ASSETS
: The Ducks and Honda Center yesterday announced a new deal with Southern California-based Pacific Premier Bank, making the financial institution the official business bank of the Ducks, Honda Center and The Rinks, which is a chain of public skating facilities in the area. For the first time, the Ducks' practice jersey will feature a PPB patch. PPB also will have naming rights to the Honda Center’s Club Level. That rebrand project is slated to begin today (Ducks).

MARKET FLASH: BLOOMBERG NEWS' Erik Matuszewski notes Fantex’ IPO of 523,700 shares for Bills QB E.J. Manuel sold at $10 each back in July, but a day after Manuel was benched, his shares "were trading for $5 when Fantex’s market closed last night." Manuel is the "first publicly traded player to lose his job." It has left his Fantex backers "trying to decide whether to bail on the former first-round pick, while potential investors consider whether it’s a temporary move" (BLOOMBERG NEWS, 10/1).
