NHL Jets Unveil MTS Centre Upgrades, Including Lounges, Additional Restrooms

True North Sports & Entertainment, which owns the NHL Jets, unveiled C$6M "worth of renovations" to MTS Centre yesterday, according to Jim Bender of the WINNIPEG SUN. The team unveiled a "newly expanded balcony overlooking the Portage Avenue atrium," and suite holders in the newly named Scotiabank Premium Suites "saw a renovated suite bar and lounge." The main concourse, Scotiabank Premium Suites, and upper concourse "will now be open 60 minutes prior to puck drop." True North also "doubled the washroom capacity on the 300-level, where fancy new restaurants and lounges have been built." The Jets Gear store on the main concourse "has also expanded to 1,700 square feet from 1,100" (WINNIPEG SUN, 9/23). True North Senior VP/Venues & Entertainment Kevin Donnelly said that the investment "was made to coincide with the renewal of season ticket holders on the 300 level following the completion" of the '13-14 season. In Winnipeg, Geoff Kirbyson notes the team hopes the 65% increase in restroom capacity for the upper deck "will significantly reduce arguably the main complaint on the 300 level" (WINNIPEG FREE PRESS, 9/23).
