Cavaliers Clarify Policy, Won't Require Season-Ticket Holders To Buy Playoff Seats

The Cavaliers "want to clarify [that], should a season-ticket holder, for whatever reason, decide they don't want" playoff tickets this season, they "would not lose" their season tickets for the following season, according to Joe Vardon of the Cleveland PLAIN DEALER. This comes despite a prior electronic message that was sent last week to season-ticket holders (now known as Wine & Gold United members), which indicated they are "required to purchase playoff tickets." Season-ticket holders were required to sign off on the message and e-mail it "back to the Cavaliers to receive their tickets for this year (delivered electronically) Sept. 26." But Cavs Senior VP & CRO Brad Sims said, "Members can opt out of their membership plan with 30 days notice at any time." The Cavaliers said that they "will make this point clear to season-ticket holders in future agreements." The electronic ticket agreement that hit season-ticket holders' inboxes "is a process called DocuSign -- which the team is using to replace written paper documents facilitated" by sales reps. The Cavs for a second year "are delivering season tickets electronically, a practice that cuts into the re-sale of tickets by ticket brokers." The price of '14-15 tickets "did not increase from last year despite the addition" of Fs LeBron James and Kevin Love. The team intends to announce '15-16 ticket prices "prior to January, when season-ticket holders must declare if they do not want season tickets next season" (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 9/20).
