NFL Hires Cynthia Hogan As DC Lobbyist, Hopes To Fix Credibility On Domestic Violence

The NFL today named CYNTHIA HOGAN Senior VP/Public Policy & Government Affairs. Hogan, who previously served as Counsel to VP JOE BIDEN, will develop and implement the league's legislative efforts and work with individual teams on local and state issues. She will be based in DC and begin on Sept. 22. Hogan will report to NFL Exec VP/Communications & Public Affairs PAUL HICKS (NFL). POLITICO's Anna Palmer reports Hogan becomes the NFL's "first female top lobbyist and comes on board after the NFL engaged in a protracted job search that included several rounds of interviews and dozens of candidates." She will have a "broad range of issues in her portfolio, including the NFL's political action committee." Hogan served as a "key Senate aide behind the passage of the Violence Against Women Act" and was hired to "help the NFL regain credibility on domestic violence issues." A source said that Hogan is "expected to make an assessment of the NFL's Washington presense nad will examine the strategy and personnel both internally and externally" (POLITICO.com, 9/16).
