In Columbus, Aaron Portzline reported Blue Jackets TV analyst Bill Davidge has "begun cancer treatments after being diagnosed with multiple myeloma." Davidge said that he "plans to continue in his new role" as FS Ohio pregame and postgame studio analyst. The club has "established an email address -- getwellbilly@bluejackets.com -- for fans who want to send well-wishes, personal stories or encouragement" (DISPATCH.com, 9/13).

NOT A FAN: On Long Island, Neil Best reported Jets QB Michael Vick "will not appear on Mike Francesa's WFAN show on Tuesdays this season, as he had been contracted to do, a decision that became official Friday." Francesa said that the Jets had "barred Vick from appearing weekly." But earlier in the day, the club said that it "merely had encouraged him to reconsider" (NEWSDAY, 9/13).

TIMELY MANNER? SB NATION's Anson Whaley noted in what was "one of the most premeditated things you'll ever see," former Univ. of Pittsburgh football coach Dave Wannstedt "somehow managed to crush" AD Steve Pederson on Saturday when analyzing the first half of FS1's Pitt-FIU telecast. Wannstedt said Pederson needed to let coach Paul Chryst "run this program and they will get back to contending for conference championships, like they were four or five years ago." Whaley wrote Wannstedt "came off as not making a ton of sense given the context of analyzing the half" (CARDIACHILL.com, 9/13).

CHOKE HOLD: In Las Vegas, Alan Snel reported a N.Y. man who was "accused of stealing UFC content on the Internet has settled and apologized." UFC’s parent company, Zuffa, said that "under the settlement, Steven Messina was penalized by UFC for an undisclosed amount of money, forced to surrender his computer hardware and software to UFC representatives, to turn over all records and information pertaining to piracy of UFC content and even information linked to other potential pirates" (REVIEWJOURNAL.com, 9/12).
