Visa To Promote New Visa Checkout Initiative During NFL Season Behind Fitzgerald Ad

With the NFL season beginning tomorrow, longtime league sponsor Visa is putting the NFL’s marketing power behind its Visa Checkout e-wallet initiative. TV ads breaking this week from BBDO will attempt to demonstrate how the digital wallet is so easy to use, it can be done with one hand. One ad illustrating this features Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald ordering NFL jerseys with a smart phone using Visa Checkout while catching passes from QBs Drew Brees, Colin Kaepernick and Andrew Luck. In another, surfer Kolohe Andino places a pizza order from a mobile phone while riding a wave in Tahiti. Like PayPal and other "digital wallets," Visa Checkout allows users to process payment-card transactions with a single username and password and without leaving a merchant's website. Visa Chief Digital Officer Chris Curtin described Visa Checkout as the company's top domestic marketing initiative. "So many of our consumers are moving from physical commerce to e-commerce, the idea is for them to do that easily and continue with our brand promise of 'the best way to pay and be paid.'" Pizza Hut is offering a buy one, get one free offer for the first 1 million fans to order a large pizza using Visa Checkout. Also, 1-800-Flowers is allowing fans to send 18 roses for free for signing up for Visa Checkout and placing and order by Friday. See the full sponsorship portfolio for Visa at Resource Guide LIVE.
