America's Cup organizers have appointed HARVEY SCHILLER Commercial Commissioner for the 35th America's Cup, effective immediately. The role will give Schiller responsibility for supervising, managing and protecting the commercial interests of the America's Cup. He has served on the America's Cup Advisory Board since '10. Schiller starts the role with immediate effect. Items on the to-do list include finalizing the America's Cup World Series schedule, format and venues (America's Cup).

NAMES: RON ILITCH, the son of Tigers and Red Wings Owner MIKE ILITCH, was arraigned Thursday "after being charged with possession of cocaine following his arrest Wednesday afternoon." Ron Ilitch was charged with "possession of less than 25 grams of cocaine, which carries a maximum penalty of four years in prison." He has a preliminary examination hearing scheduled for Thursday (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 8/29)....Former MLBer RANDY JOHNSON on Monday will list his Mediterranean-style estate in Paradise, Ariz., for $25M. The house "frames views of the surrounding five-acre parcel" (L.A. TIMES 8/29)....Heat G MARIO CHALMERS listed his two-story, 5,475 square-foot Miami condo at the Marquis Residences across the street from American Airlines Arena for $4M (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 8/29)....Buccaneers coach LOVIE SMITH listed his 13-room brick house in Lake Forest, Ill., for $1.999M (CHICAGOTRIBUNE.com, 8/28).

IN MEMORY: Former Steelers PR Dir ED KIELY, who worked for the team for more than 40 years and was a confidant of late Steelers Owner ART ROONEY SR., died Thursday morning of natural causes in DC. He was 96 (POST-GAZETTE.com, 8/28).
