Churchill Downs Inc. promoted President & COO BILL CARSTANJEN to the role of CEO, while former CEO BOB EVANS remains BOD Chair. Carstanjen becomes CDI's 12th CEO since the company was founded in 1874. He had been in his former role since March '11, when Evans became BOD Chair and "relinquished the president's title." Evans "will continue to have a full-time, daily role with the casino and racing company." Meanwhile, CDI CFO BILL MUDD will now add the title of President that Carstanjen held (Louisville COURIER-JOURNAL, 8/28).

EXECS: FIBA elected USA Basketball CEO & Exec Dir JIM TOOLEY to its Central Board for '14-19. FIBA also named FIBA Americas President HORACIO MURATORE as President for '14-19, succeeding YVAN MAININI, who served in the capacity since '10 (FIBA)...The Int'l Tennis HOF named BNP Paribas Open Founder CHARLES PASARELL as Int'l Committee Chair (Palm Springs DESERT SUN, 8/29)....Portland State Univ.
