Former NBAer and Duke alum GRANT HILL has donated $1.25M to his alma mater. Hill designated $1M of his gift to go to athletics, while the rest "will go to the Duke Annual Fund in support of Trinity College of Arts and Sciences." Hill and his wife, TAMIA, gave the school $1M in '10 to "establish a scholarship fund for the men’s basketball team." This year's gift will go toward Duke Forward, the $3.25B university-wide fundraising campaign that has a $250M goal for Duke Athletics (Raleigh NEWS & OBSERVER, 7/31).

THE KING'S COURT: LeBron James Family Foundation Exec Dir MICHELE CAMPBELL said, "I am contacted all the time by people asking to bring the program to Seattle, Detroit, Chicago, etc. The program works because of the authenticity and connection LEBRON and our Foundation shares with the community of Akron. What I tell them is if you have someone in your community who is an influencer like LeBron is in Akron; then we can help tailor fit a program around that. ... Also, it is challenging for a growing program to attract sponsors. Many potential sponsors aren’t interested in Akron, Ohio. It’s a challenge when we have the high goals that we do to only lean on LeBron and fundraising to fuel everything. We simply need more funds to activate our goals" (THEBUSINESSOFSPORTS.com, 7/29).
