Le Batard's Radio Show Unsuccessfully Tries To Buy Ad In Plain Dealer To Tease LeBron

Reps for Miami-based WAXY-FM's "The Dan Le Batard Show" yesterday attempted to buy a full-page ad in Sunday's edition of the Cleveland Plain Dealer "to poke fun at LeBron James," according to Evan MacDonald of the Cleveland PLAIN DEALER. A mock-up of the ad posted on Twitter depicts two Heat championship rings above the words "You're Welcome, LeBron." Below are the words "Sincerely, Miami Heat Fans." Le Batard acknowledged the ploy during his show, saying, "They have declined our money. They do not want our money. They will not allow us to put our ad in the paper." Le Batard during the show said that the ad "was not intended to be mean-spirited, but rather a way to poke fun at James and Northeast Ohio residents who watched him win two championships in Miami." He added that his show "was also attempting to buy" a full-page ad in the Akron Beacon Journal (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 7/30).
