National Football Foundation President & CEO STEVE HATCHELL "is playing a key role" with the College Football HOF & Chick-fil-A Fan Experience in Atlanta. Hatchell will not move there "personally this time -- the NFF is based in Irving, Texas -- but his endorsement of Atlanta figured prominently" in the NFF board’s '09 decision to relocate the HOF from South Bend, Ind. Hatchell: "You’re going to see the Hall of Fame, but you’re also going to have a fan experience" (ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION, 7/26).

Torre "was saluted by Yankees managing general partner HAL STEINBRENNER and the commissioner." Also on hand were MLB COO ROB MANFRED, former MLBer RON GUIDRY and comedian BILLY CRYSTAL. Yankees GM BRIAN CASHMAN and Special Adviser GENE MICHAEL "didn't arrive until Sunday" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 7/28)....The MLB Cardinals will name their next Cardinals Care Redbird Rookies field for Baseball HOFer TONY LA RUSSA. Tony La Russa Field will serve the children residing within the Clinton-Peabody Public Housing Complex in the Near Southside neighborhood of St. Louis (Cardinals).

AGENT ACTION: The NFLPA last week made a “fee hike” for agents to retain membership. The hike is “from $1,200 to $1,500 for agents with fewer than 10 clients, and from $1,700 to $2,000 to agents with more than 10.” The NFLPA “explained that the increase is because of rising costs of maintaining the agent regulation system and upgrades to the union’s website.” This should “add about $200,000 to the NFLPA’s coffers, which seems like an awful lot” (BOSTON GLOBE, 7/27).

NAMES: Auburn AD JAY JACOBS last week announced that the school will “enter a partnership with the End Child Hunger in Alabama campaign, spearheaded by Auburn’s Hunger Solutions Institute.” Jacobs, Lt.
