The Grizzlies promoted COO JASON WEXLER to President of Business Operations for the team and FedExForum. Wexler “will have primary leadership responsibility of all aspects of the business including ticket sales and service, arena operations, corporate partnerships, marketing communications and broadcast, community investment and general operations” (Memphis COMMERCIAL APPEAL, 7/24).

MAD MAN: Ad agency Wunderman named former NBA Exec VP/Marketing JAMIE GALLO President of its N.Y. office. Gallo left the league in February after “overseeing brand strategy and communications” since taking on the role in June ’12. Although he “reported to Deputy Commissioner ADAM SILVER, he was part of Commissioner DAVID STERN’s regime, having known Mr. Stern for several years before joining the league.” Gallo acknowledged that the timing of his departure from the NBA "coincided with changes" at the league (ADAGE.com, 7/23).

EXECS: The Association of Surfing Professionals named former MLS, U.S. Soccer Federation and Gatorade marketing exec MARK NOONAN Chief Commercial Officer. Noonan's first task will be developing and staffing the ASP's new N.Y. office. Most recently, Noonan led FocalSport, a sports marketing and media agency he founded in '05 (ASP)....The Univ. of Illinois promoted Senior Associate AD WARREN HOOD to Senior Associate AD/Capital Projects & Facility Operations.
