In L.A., Joe Flint reported Time Warner, in a "move designed to ward off a potential hostile takeover," approved a provision that would "make it difficult for dissident shareholders to force a vote on a sale or attempt a change" in the comapny's BOD. The move "comes in the wake" of Fox' $80B offer for Time Warner. Although Time Warner's BOD "rejected the offer, another bid is expected by insiders at both companies and Wall Street analysts" (L.A. TIMES, 7/22).

LEAVING HIS POST: In Oklahoma City, Darnell Mayberry reports Thunder TV color analyst Grant Long has “resigned his position and will not return” to FS Oklahoma for the ‘14-15 season. Long held the position alongside play-by-play announcer Brian Davis "since the team moved” from Seattle to Oklahoma City in ‘08. KOKH-TV earlier this month reported that Long "had deep financial troubles" (OKLAHOMAN, 7/22).

RADIO FLYERS: In California, Elliott Teaford notes the NHL Kings yesterday formally announced "a change in radio stations," making KABC-AM the team's new flagship station. Nick Nickson and Daryl Evans will "continue to provide commentary" on all games, but there will be a "partnership between the Cumulus-owned station and the team that includes new exclusive events plus digital content available for fans" (Torrance DAILY BREEZE, 7/22). Meanwhile, in Ottawa, Wayne Scanlan reports for “at least the next three years,” CJFO-FM will “continue its French broadcast” of Senators games. Nicolas St-Pierre “remains the station’s play-by-play voice alongside analyst Alain Sanscartier” (OTTAWA CITIZEN, 7/22).

WHO DAT? Former Springfield Republican Patriots reporter Nick Underhill “will begin reporting on the Saints” for the paper this week when they open training camp at The Greenbrier resort in West Virginia (THENEWORLEANSADVOCATE.com, 7/22).
