Syracuse Cuts Ties With IMG After 15 Years, But Could Negotiate New Deal

Syracuse Univ. has "terminated its multi-million dollar agreement" with IMG, according to Dave Tobin of the Syracuse POST-STANDARD. IMG's contract with SU "had extended through" the '20-21 season, but the school "sent a letter to sponsors last week, notifying them that SU's contract with IMG was terminated July 1." The letter said that SU is "exploring its sports marketing options, including partnering with another company, negotiating a new agreement with IMG, or doing the work itself." IMG, together with a company it merged with, ISP, "had been marketing SU sports" since '99. SU has "not said how much IMG paid the university." IMG handled "all of SU's marketing for football, men's and women's basketball and the coaches' radio show for those sports, as well as running men's lacrosse play-by-play radio and SU game programs." IMG also handled "all of SU sports' Internet rights, event marketing and game promotional rights, video rights, publication rights and all facilities signage rights" (Syracuse POST-STANDARD, 7/8).
