U.S. Sens JOE MANCHIN (D-W.Va.), MIKE LEE (R-Utah) and CORY BOOKER (D-N.J.), as well as U.S. Reps KEVIN MCCARTHY (R-Calif.) and STENY HOYER (D-Md.), "will lead the honorary host committee of nearly 100 members of Congress for the sixth annual 'Home Runs for Horton's Kids' on June 10th at Nationals Park." More than 600 guests are expected, "including members of Congress, staffers and principals from leading government relations and public affairs office." The event benefits Horton's Kids, a nonprofit serving education, nutrition and other services to children of the Anacostia neighborhood in DC (POLITICO.com, 5/28).

ON THE DOCKET: Boxing promoter DON KING yesterday "was slapped" with a $2.4M lawsuit "for allegedly failing to deliver a highly anticipated championship bout in Russia last month when one of his fighters, former WBA cruiserweight champ GUILLERMO JONES, had to pull out at the 11th hour after failing a drug test." The breach-of-contract suit, filed in Manhattan federal court on behalf of current champ DENIS LEBEDEV and his Russian-based promoter World of Boxing LLC, "is seeking compensation for the 'sizable sum' the promoter says it laid out for the rematch, including a $800,000 fee for delivering Jones that was allegedly deposited in King’s bank account" (N.Y. AWARDS & HONORS: MLB Commissioner BUD SELIG yesterday "received the Wistar Institute President's Award, given annually to an individual who has personally been touched by cancer, educates others about the disease and advocates for cancer research" (MLB.com, 5/28)....Golf World Editor-In-Chief JAIME DIAZ yesterday received the '14 Memorial Golf Journalism Award from Golf HOFer JACK NICKLAUS.
