DirecTV has "started making refunds to irked subscribers who can't tune in" to Dodgers games on Time Warner Cable SportsNet LA due to the ongoing carriage dispute, according to sources cited by Claire Atkinson of the N.Y. POST. With DirecTV "levying a sports fee but providing no Dodgers' games, it has in some cases agreed to refund to subscribers a $15 credit." Other subscribers "got credits of $3 and $10" (N.Y. POST, 5/15). Meanwhile, in San Jose, Jon Wilner reported negotiations between the Pac-12 and DirecTV over the Pac-12 Networks "remain stalled, but the conference has taken a significant leap toward eventually getting on the satellite carrier's airwaves." AT&T, which carries the Pac-12 Nets, is reportedly in "advanced talks to buy DirecTV." It is "not coming in a manner anyone could have foreseen when the Pac-12 Networks launched in the summer of 2013, but that hardly matters to frustrated fans." There is "no guarantee that DirecTV will carry the Pac-12 Networks the day/week/month/even year after AT&T takes control." It is "entirely possibly that DTV, even as a unit of AT&T, would continue to demand a lower price point from the Pac-12 Nets until the mothership stepped in and forced an agreement -- and who knows when, or if, that would happen" (MERCURYNEWS.com, 5/14).
