Chris Canetti Says Dynamo Already Seeing Benefits Of Alliance With NWSL Dash

Brian Ching played eight seasons with the Dynamo and is now guiding the NWSL Houston Dash "through its inaugural season" as Managing Dir, just part of Dynamo and Dash President of Business Operations Chris Canetti's "larger vision to further cement the Dynamo in the hearts and minds of Houston soccer and sports fans," according to Jose de Jesus Ortiz of the HOUSTON CHRONICLE. Canetti said, "One of the many reasons why we were able to justify starting the Dash was because we believe it's in the best interest of the Dynamo. We believe that having a women's team helps grow the game. We believe that with having the Dash here, we've expanded our club, expanded our brand. We now have 20 more brand ambassadors in the community." Ortiz noted the Dynamo have "introduced the Dash players often to their fan base at games," and in turn, the Dash have "helped introduce BBVA Compass Stadium and the Dynamo somewhat to some 'soccer families' who had never attended a Dynamo game." Canetti said, "There were some people that have Dash season tickets or went to the first game that never went before to a Dynamo game. We got feedback from them on what an awesome experience it was. That to me is part of the essence of why we've done the Dash: to expand our audience and to create an audience that loves both teams and supports both teams." Ching added, "With the Dash, it's allowing us to reach a different audience that we couldn't reach with the men's side" (CHRON.com, 4/23).
