Safety-Kleen Signs Multiyear Sponsorship Extension With NASCAR

Safety-Kleen has renewed its sponsorship with NASCAR. The oil collecting and re-refining company will continue to be the sport’s official environmental services supplier, a position it has held since '04. Financial terms of the multiyear agreement were not available, but sources valued the deal in the mid-six figures annually. Under the agreement, Safety-Kleen will continue to capture cleaning solvents, oil fluids and lubricants at NASCAR races for use in other products. The company is a founding partner of NASCAR Green, the sport’s environmental platform. NASCAR said Safety-Kleen last year collected and re-refined more than 200,000 gallons of NASCAR oil at tracks and team shops. The use of re-refined oil limits the sport’s carbon footprint. Safety-Kleen captures 200 million gallons of used oil a year and recycles it to produce approximately 140 million gallons of lubricating oil.
