Consortium Of Three Companies Submitted As Red Wings Arena Contractor

Olympia submitted the project’s newly formed contractor Barton Malow-Hunt-White
The Red Wings’ new $450M arena “will be built by a consortium of three construction companies that was submitted for approval” yesterday by the city’s Downtown Development Authority, according to Bill Shea of CRAIN’S DETROIT BUSINESS. Olympia Development of Michigan submitted the name of the project’s newly formed general contractor Barton Malow-Hunt-White. The DDA is “scheduled to vote on the submission” tomorrow. Barton Malow-Hunt-White is comprised of Southfield, Mich.-based Barton Malow Co., Detroit-based White Construction and Indianapolis-based Hunt Construction Group. Barton Malow and White were “involved in construction of Comerica Park and Ford Field.” Hunt Construction has “worked on major sports venues” such as Amway Center, Barclays Center and Consol Energy Center. The DDA will “own the 18,000-seat event center, to be built” by ’17 (CRAINSDETROIT.com, 4/7).
