Dish To Stop Offering WWE's PPV Events In Response To Over-The-Top Net

Dish Network said that it will "no longer offer WWE’s pay-per-views, including April’s 'WrestleMania 30,'" according to Marc Graser of VARIETY. The move comes as WWE is "about to launch a digital network on Feb. 24, which will include all of its 12 PPVs and a slate of original series beginning after Sunday’s 'Elimination Chamber.'" WWE is "charging $9.99 a month for subscriptions to the service." Dish said that it was "upset that the network was being launched without WWE’s TV partners." It will "continue to air" channels with WWE shows (VARIETY.com, 2/19). Meanwhile, WWE "unveiled the programming lineup for its streaming network," which includes a "live, 30-minute 'Raw' preshow that will debut" on Monday at 7:30pm ET. The over-the-top net also will "feature 'WWE Raw Backstage Pass,' which will air live following Mon Night Raw each week." Other programming includes a "series on ground-making matches, a reality show with WWE stars past and 'NXT ArRival' a live in-ring event featuring rising WWE stars" set for Feb. 27 at 8:00pm. In addition, subscribers "will have access to the WWE VOD library, which includes all WWE, WCW and ECW PPVs as well as encores of Raw and Smackdown," totaling "more than 1500 hours" of content (CABLEFAX DAILY, 2/20).
