Pujols reportedly plans to drop his defamation lawsuit against Jack Clark
Former MLBer JACK CLARK "issued a public retraction" last night for his PED-related comments made about Angels 1B ALBERT PUJOLS. Clark in August said Pujols was "a juicer." A source said that Pujols will "drop the lawsuit he filed against Clark as a result." Clark in the statement said, "I would like to address Albert Pujols’ pending defamation lawsuit and reconfirm that I have no knowledge whatsoever that Mr. Pujols has ever used illegal or banned PEDs." Pujols’ suit described Clark’s assertions as “malicious, reckless and outrageous falsehoods” (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 2/11). 

CIRCLING THE WAGONS: The administration of New York Gov. ANDREW CUOMO yesterday in a letter to Erie County Exec MARK POLONCARZ and Bills President & CEO RUSS BRANDON "announced it had appointed its first five members of the New Stadium Working Group 'as part of the state’s unwavering commitment to keep the Buffalo Bills a thriving part of the Buffalo community.'” Cuomo appointed Lt. Gov. ROBERT DUFFY, Buffalo Mayor BYRON BROWN, Niagara Falls Mayor PAUL DYSTER, Buffalo Niagara Partnership CEO DOTTIE-GALLAGHER COHEN and Empire State Development President KENNETH ADAMS (BUFFALO NEWS, 2/11).

CREDIT CHECK SWING: The Twins and other businesses owned by the POHLAD family are “taking credit card companies to court over allegedly unfair fees.” The team is “the latest local company to opt out of a multi-billion-dollar class-action payout from Visa, MasterCard and the banks behind them over the processing fees.” The Pohlads’ JB Hudson Jewelers and Twin Cities Automotive are co-plaintiffs in the suit with the Twins (BIZJOURNALS.com, 2/10).
