Back Up The Bus: Jadeveon Clowney Signs With Cook For NFL Representation

BC Sports, the NFL player representation firm owned by Bus Cook, has signed South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney for representation in all areas. Cook will be joined by BC Sports agents Don Weatherell and Madison Howard in representing Clowney. “We signed him for everything,” Cook told SportsBusiness Journal Thursday. Cook noted Clowney would not be involved in any marketing endeavors that would interfere with his training for the NFL draft. “He wants to focus on football,” said Cook, who also represents Panthers QB Cam Newton, Lions WR Calvin Johnson and former NFLer Brett Favre (Liz Mullen, Staff Writer). PRO FOOTBALL TALK's Mike Florio cites a league source as sayign that Clowney’s decision to sign with Cook "came after Clowney had given Jay Z the impression that Roc Nation Sports would get the assignment, with Jay Z handling the off-field deals and in-house NFLPA-certified agent Kim Miale handling the contract." It is "unclear why Clowney ultimately picked Cook," though some are "speculating that Cook agreed to a greatly reduced commission" (PROFOOTBALLTALK.com, 1/3).
