Manning Tops Public Figure Discussions On Facebook; Tebow Leads Yahoo, Bing Searches

Sports teams, events and athletes were again among the most-searched and most-discussed topics on the Internet in ’13. Broncos QB Peyton Manning was the most-talked-about public figure on Facebook in ’13, while Super Bowl XLVII was the most-discussed moment. The Super Bowl topped the government shutdown and Boston Marathon bombings for most-discussed event. The NBA Finals ranked No. 11 on the most-discussed event list. Meanwhile, several sports venues made Facebook’s list of the most-checked-in places in ’13. Dodger Stadium ranked No. 4 overall, with AT&T Park at No. 5, Rangers Ballpark in Arlington at No. 6 and Fenway Park at No. 8.

GOOGLE THIS: Former Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez topped Google's list of the most-searched athletes in '13, followed by Vikings RB Adrian Peterson. Univ. of Louisville G Kevin Ware, NBA free agent C Jason Collins and sprinter Oscar Pistorius rounded out the top five. Google also released a list of the most-searched stadiums/arenas, with AT&T Park topping the list, followed by BB&T Center. The top five was rounded out by Sleep Train Arena, Forest National arena (Belgium) and United Center (Google).

OTHER SEARCH TERMS: The Cowboys topped Yahoo’s list of the most-searched sports teams in ’13, followed by the Red Sox. Rounding out the top five were the Packers, Lakers and Tigers. Among top-searched athletes, free agent QB Tim Tebow took the top spot, followed by golfer Tiger Woods. Rounding out the top five were NASCAR driver Danica Patrick, skier Lindsey Vonn and UFC fighter Ronda Rousey. On Bing, Tebow was also the most-searched athlete of ’13, followed by Vonn and Woods. Tebow moved up Bing’s list after finishing No. 3 last year. Manning was No. 1 last year on Bing, but dropped to No. 18 this year. Among the most searched teams on Bing, the Cowboys topped the list, followed by the Heat and Yankees.
