Rose Bowl Taking Bids For Next Phase of Renovation, As Funding Efforts Continue

The Rose Bowl Operating Company will "receive bids this month for the next phase of the renovation" of Rose Bowl Stadium, according to Lauren Gold of the PASADENA STAR-NEWS. Rose Bowl staff said that the next phase of the renovation "will be completed" in '14 and that the RBOC still needs $12.7M in funding "for the remainder" of the $182M project. RBOC CEO & GM Darryl Dunn said, "We’re over 80 percent complete and the good news is the biggest piece is the pavilion and the response received from people who have utilized the space has been excellent, which is wonderful news for us." Gold notes the project is "anticipated to earn" the final $12.4M by the end of '18, including $3.4M from the '14 BCS Championship game, $2M in "revenue from the sale of personalized bricks for a mosaic at the stadium entrance," and $7M in donations. The next phase of construction is estimated at $10-11M, and will include "a warning track on the field, installation of hedges along the sidelines, added restrooms on the stadium’s lower level and new exits for the lower level seats" (PASADENA STAR-NEWS, 10/8).
