IN A NEW YORK MINUTE: The Knicks "elected not to renew the contract" of longtime scout SCOTT MCGUIRE, after 25 years with the organization. Scott is the son of late Basketball HOFer DICK MCGUIRE, and the family's association with the Knicks "dates back to the late 1940s." Scott's contract was set to expire this past Wednesday, but a source said that he was "informed in January that his pact would not be renewed" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 8/2).
