CONCACAF Gold Cup Attendance Down 13% from '11 Tourney, But Up 9% From '09

CONCACAF Gold Cup matches averaged 39,348 fans per match in ’13, down 13% from the figure in ’11, but up 9% from ’09. With the exception of the Gold Cup final at Soldier Field, each venue held a doubleheader during the event’s 13 dates. The largest draw was the semifinal doubleheader at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, with 81,410 fans taking in Panama-Mexico and U.S.-Honduras. Sunday's U.S.-Panama final at Soldier Field drew 57,920 fans. In ’11, with the U.S. taking on Mexico in the final at the Rose Bowl, 93,420 fans attended. This year marked the first time since '05 that the final did not feature U.S.-Mexico (THE DAILY).
