  • Carlos Slim Tops List Of Richest Soccer Club Investors, With George Soros Fourth

Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim is the world’s richest soccer team owner, according to rankings from data firm Wealth-X. Slim bought a 30% stake in Liga MX clubs Pachuca and Leon last year. In second place is Spanish billionaire Amancio Ortega, who holds a stake in Deportivo de La Coruña, which plays in the second division in Spain. The highest ranking American owner is George Soros, who owns a nearly 2% stake in EPL club Manchester United. The list of owners and investors features teams from 11 countries. Seven of the 20 clubs are from England, but are owned by foreign-born investors. EPL club Arsenal is the only club to be featured twice on the list, with Rams Owner Stan Kroenke and Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov having large stakes in the club (Wealth-X).
