Yankees Top MLB Team Popularity; Baseball Followers At Lowest Level In A Decade

The Yankees are the favorite MLB team among baseball fans, keeping the top spot the club has occupied since '03, according to results from a recent Harris Poll. The study, which was not conducted last year, surveyed 2,210 U.S. adults online between June 12-17. The Red Sox and Braves again rank second and third, respectively. The Dodgers rank in the No. 4 spot in '13, while the Rangers and Tigers were tied at No. 5. Meanwhile, the percentage of respondents who said they follow baseball (34%) was at the lowest level since at least '04. The figure for '13 was down from 36% in '11 and '10, after hitting a 10-year high of 41% in '09 (Harris Poll).
