Executive Transactions

The USOC hired former Olympian BENITA FITZGERALD MOSLEY as the Chief of Organizational Excellence. The new role will see Fitzgerald Mosley, a member of the U.S. track team at the '84 L.A. and '88 Seoul Games, oversee athlete career programs, human resources, diversity, facilities, security and strategic planning. Many of those duties were handled by outgoing Chief Administrative Officer KIRSTEN VOLPI, who is taking a job with the Colorado School of Mines. Fitzgerald Mosley most recently worked as the Chief of Sports Performance for USA Track & Field. She becomes the only Olympian in the organization’s exec ranks. It has not had an Olympic exec since former COO NORM BELLINGHAM, an Olympic kayaker, left in '11. The USOC also announced CFO WALT GLOVER will take over responsibility for IT as well as audit and report, which were previously overseen by Volpi. Additionally, Chief of Sport Operations MIKE ENGLISH is leaving the organization and RICK ADAMS was named Chief of Sport Operations. Adams will oversee the three Olympic Training Centers, which English worked on, and NGB relations. Adams will report to Fitzgerald Mosley (Tripp Mickle, Staff Writer).

ESPN 3D LAYOFFS: ESPN has let go of its 3D TV personnel, including VP/Strategic Business Planning BRYAN BURNS, as part of its recent round of layoffs. Burns had been a prominent champion of ESPN's push into 3D TV, and as recently as January said the company's affiliate agreements for the 3D TV channel were still tracking ahead of the initial acceptance of HD TV a decade ago. But ESPN last week announced it will shut down its 3D TV channel by the end of the year as consumer adoption of the technology remains quite limited (Eric Fisher, Staff Writer).
